Building community, visibility, and opportunity for Black artists across Washtenaw County
"My work is inspired by the energy of color and along with the union of geometric shapes that are often disparate, but joined together to show the strength in difference and the power in color and form".
Artist Bio
Gaylotta Murray is a digital artist whose work radiates with a vibrant interplay of colors, shapes, and layers. Born and raised on the west side of Detroit, Michigan, she developed an early passion for coordinating patterns, colors, and styles—elements that would become the bedrock of her artistic practice.
Her creative process is a delicate dance between spontaneity and intention. A blank digital canvas becomes a playground where technology brings artwork to life in ways that echo traditional media. This technique, paired with her deep passion for color, results in an expressive tapestry that celebrates the power of color and form.
My Artistic Practice
I began my artistic practice using Procreate, the industry standard for digital art. After venturing out into the art community I realized how important it is to create a space where digital art is understood and respected. I found tools that bring more realism, texture and artistic quality to my digital canvas and will continue with the practice of building on the strengths of each. .
